Latest Ultrasound

Here is the latest ultrasound picture from our appointment last Thursday. I didn't do a very good job of scanning it. We weren't expecting to have an ultrasound at this appointment as it was a last minute appointment, but I'M SO GLAD WE DID. We got to see the baby move. You can see the big round head and then on the right side there is an arm and a leg. It's kind of a side view. The baby was jumping up and down like it was on a trampoline. It was amazing. After a stressful day, it was so nice and reassuring to see that everything was going well. Mike thinks that with this baby's jumping skills, he/she is sure to be a star basketball player. God I hope the baby gets his height :)

11 & 1/2 Weeks

Here are some updated pictures. Nothing is really there yet but it's really because it's early in the day (when I can barely eat for risk of praying to the porcelain god). I swear by dinner time, when my appetite seems okay, there is definitely a bump. I'm sure this is caused by many things, baby included. Gretchen and Toni can attest, when we had dinner Friday night, that my post-meal belly looked pregnant.

I'm looking forward to actually seeing a bump. It seems like I feel so many things shifting and stretching and then seeing the baby move on the ultrasound. I am ready to see some physical evidence on my body that this baby isn't just a dream.
On a random note, I remember Teresa saying during her pregnancy that her skin reacted differently to sunlight. We all took a trip to Florida when she was pregnant with Luke. If I'm not mistaken, even with her Italian complexion, she peeled- and maybe burned more??
Even though the sun wasn't out much on our trip, I did get some color and I have to say, sunscreen did not help me. I am peeling like a hot potato on my chest and arms.
Oh well.
Another thing to report. I am officially changing jobs! My last day at Rainbows will be Thursday, April 10th. It's been a long time coming and I am ready. I'll be working for a friend of a friend in the mortgage industry as a loan officer. I have been meeting with them for a while and it's a good opportunity. I've spent some time trying it out and seem to have a knack for it- and enjoy it. It's nice because it's sales without cold-calling. I will be working with their existing clients on a variety of things. The market is scary right now in some aspects, but there are a lot of avenues involved in the loan industry besides buying a home that are necessary and even thriving right now. Plus I can work from home, which will be great. To be honest, it won't tak much to supplement my current not-for-profit income. - And the stress level, believe it or not- will be much less, too. Wish me luck!
LAST OF ALL- tomorrow is opening day for the CUBBIES!!! What does everyone thing of the name Zambrano or Fukudome for a baby? I think they would work rather nicely for a boy or a girl ;)

Back From Florida

We actually came home on Tuesday but this is my first time really sitting down at the computer. We had a wonderful time on our trip and it was so good to see Kiki, John and the kids. The sun hid from us on several of the days but it was still really nice and warm out.

Dad and Donna's new house is beautiful. It has a great lanai and heated pool and hot tub. The rest of the house is open and welcoming with a great kitchen, beautiful floors and windows and a really, really comfortable bed (I slept like a champ). The house is also really close to their condo so we were able to walk to see Kiki and John, to the beach, or down to Starbucks- which we did each morning. We spent an afternoon out on a boat and did some fishing, which was fun, but the highlight was watching Emmett's pretend to drive the boat.I'm afraid I was a bit (okay, that's an understatement) of a pain at times because I had a really tough time with my stomach most days. That's part of why it's taken me so long to get back to the computer. I have been pretty sick the past several days. I saw my doctor yesterday and was prescribed a nausea medicine so that should help. Here are a few pictures from the trip. We didn't take very many and some were blurry so I'll probably be adding more when everyone shares their's. I'll try to get an updated belly pic in the next few days as well.

Random Tidbits before Florida

This will be my last post before Florida. We leave tomorrow and I CAN'T WAIT! I am already packed and ready to go. To be honest, I've been so excited I started packing 2 weeks ago. What can I say? I can't get to the sunshine fast enough.
Here are just a few things I want to share before I leave for the week.
This past weekend was nice and relaxing. For anyone having trouble sleeping I have to tell you that Mike bought us a memory foam mattress pad from Costco. It's the BEST THING EVER. We both have been sleeping like champs- which says alot because I haven't been sleeping well lately. I think everyone should have one. The world would probably be a much friendlier place if we all got a good night sleep.
On another note. Sunday I went shopping with my mom and I'd like to vent a little bit. Malls are not pregnant woman (or any small bladder person) friendly. I'm not that far along yet, but I have to go- alot- and came to the realization that the nearest bathroom is never NEAR. Especially in the large department stores. They always seem to be in the exact opposite location of where you are when the urge hits. If we were downstairs in the front, the restroom was upstairs in the left corner. I actually began to think there was a conspiracy against me.
Anywhoo. I hope everyone has a good week.
Since I am going to be out of town I want to make sure and say

Grilled Cheese Heaven

I also had to share that my husband is a bread grilling, cheese melting ANGEL!
I literally am eating at least 2 grilled cheese sandwiches a day. I have one for lunch- that I make in the work toaster and melt the cheese in the microwave (a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do) and then one before bed.
I CRAVE THEM. I have to have them and Mike has become an expert. He could seriously have his own cook show devoted to the cheesy goodness he creates. I want one just thinking of them.
Thank you Baby!

Tuesday at the doctor

Tuesday we had out first visit to my regular OBGYN. I really, really like him. Mike got to meet him, too and feels the same way. There was no ultrasound this week and we learned that things are progressing well enough that I am not even considered a high risk pregnancy. This means no extra ultrasounds but also less worrying for me without that stigma over my head. He was very reassuring and answered all of our questions.

In the waiting room before the visit I looked up to see a familiar face. I couldn't place it at first but she spoke up. It was a woman from my pre-natal yoga class that began the night before. Her name is Sheryl and she and her husband were there that day to learn the sex of the baby. Such a small world. Mike and I were still in the waiting room when they came out glowing and sharing the news that they will be having a little boy.
Side note... I loved the yoga class. I was so relaxed and slept like a baby that night. I will say my arm muscles were a tad sore the next day which was a nice surprise. It is a bit more of a workout than you think.
Anywhoo, I am so glad it's Friday and I hope everyone has a great, relaxing weekend!

We celebrated my dad's birthday Saturday night. I just wanted to say Happy Birthday Daddy (yes, I do and always will call him Daddy).
I love you.
On a funny note, after a wonderful dinner at Vittorio's and just before the rediculous amount of cake and ice cream, my dad opened his cards and gifts. As he read the card Mike and I included with his gift, he began to chuckle.
Now, I've been saying over the past few weeks that my brain is leaving me. I find myself saying and doing stupid things (last night I got in bed and left the bathroom sink running until Mike looked at me likie "uh, are you serious?".
I have reverted back to second grade grammar. The bottom of my dad's card read as follows...
"Happy Birthday Dad. Love always, Mike, Jessie and Babey
yes, babey
This may seem insignificant to some of you but I will provide some additional evidence to my pregnancy stupidity. Upon re-reading work documents and emails before sending them out, I have found the following errors on more than one occasion- enough to know it's not just an oops.
of= uv - I used to miss recess at least once a week in second grade because of this one
so= sew
lie= lye
and signing my name several times as Stancak - I can't even spell my name right!

Mike has dreams, too

In the midst of my new sleeping habits (bathroom trips and strange dreams) I didn't even realize that Mike is experiencing some new things, too.
A few days ago he told me about a dream he had.
We were in Florida on vacation and some famous guy (Donald Trump or similar) docked on the beach in his yacht. It was Mike's job to watch his baby. There weren't too many details except that the guy started leaving and the yacht was pulling away. Mike had the baby in his arms and was running into the surf yelling "wait, you're forgetting your baby!"
I'm glad they trusted him with the baby :) but personally, we'll have our own baby so maybe next time they'll leave the yacht instead.

Our 4 Year Anniversary Trip

Every year for our anniversary we take a trip. We did Cancun for year one, Marco for year 2 and 3 (with an early trip to Jamaica for year 3, too) and this year Mike planned a trip to Aruba.
I'm so excited. We'll be going from MAY 14th to May 19th. I can't wait to see Aruba. Mike wanted it to be somewhere different since it may be our last truly tropical get away for a while with the baby coming. I'm not too particular as long as there SUNSHINE and warm weather, but Aruba looks beautiful.
Here are some pics of the Radisson resort we'll be at.

Belly Pictures and Childhood Memories

Here are some belly pictures to make Week 8 official. No bumps yet but I'm sure that will change in the weeks ahead.
On a sentimental note, a few weeks ago when we first told our parents the big news, my parents gave me a special present. They came by for lunch one Sunday afternoon and my mom handed me a gift bag. Inside were two books. Not just any books. These were two of my favorite books from childhood. The first, "I'm Thankful Each Day", was a little prayer type story that my sister and I would read daily- actually, we were too young to read but had it memorized and recited it while we flipped the pages. The second is a book of children's poetry. I swear there are 400 in there. The good ones, too. Anything from Old Mother Hubbard, to Jack and Jill, to some long ones that I used to fall asleep and dream to like The Sugar Plum Tree (the book is open to this page below).

I started bawling immediately. Several years ago my parents had a terrible flood at their house. What the water didn't get, the toxic mold did. I was certain that these books were lost like many of our other childhood memories. I was so touched that the books were okay and that Nana and Papa wanted their grandbaby to have these wonderful stories. I can't wait to share them.

The BEST Shoe Find EVER

Okay, so normally I don't post fashion stuff on here but today I was in a desparate search for sandals because my favorite pair got ruined. I hate when you are looking for something specific but can only find things in the wrong color or size (or can't find them at all, for that matter).
The steve Madden Website has a Design Your Own section. You can take a certain shoe, pick your size, pick from a ton of different colors, then heel style and even insert color. I think this link is for a specific shoe but if you check it out you can search other shoe styles, too. I am in HEAVEN!!!

Laura's Bday and some random pictures

Yesterday, Saturday, we celebrated Laura's 24th bday. (her actual bday is 2/28)

Happy Birthday Laura!
We spent the afternoon playing Whirley Ball (well, Danielle and I watched and everyone else played and got bruised up. Then we headed back to Dave and Laura's for food and cake. It was a really nice day. I felt bad the I left around 9 but it was a good time none the less.

On another note, I realized I still hadn't downloaded any pictures from our Arizona trip for New Years so here are a few of them. This first one is Mike, myself, Lindsey and Greg at the Four Seasons for cocktail hour . The second is sunset from the same spot (it was beautiful that day).

The third is Linds with her pup Gracie in the backyard at their place and the last is the 4 of us at a great outdoor bar. We spent New Year's Eve afternoon there drinking beer with our own fire pit. It was nice to be outside in December.
