I forgot to add this in yesterday and really, it deserves it's own entry.
I was running around yesterday morning before Dave and Laura's shower picking up the cake and a few other items. I stopped at Jewel at the last minute because I decided to get a few balloons just to add some additional decorations.
The lady who was helping me really was very nice except for the following comment.
Now, mind you, I had to make sure I heard her right. She had a very thick accent. I believe she said she was from Turkey- either that or she was having turkey for lunch- she spoke very fast.
She's casually chatting with me as she fills the balloons
her: "Is this your first baby?"
me: "yes, it is"
her: "are you excited?
me: "yes, very, and a little nervous"
now- we are walking over to get a ribbon and she says
her: "it's a girl isn't it"
me: " yes, it is! good guess! how did you know?"
her: "I have 2, boy and girl, carried girl all in butt just like you"
okay, we all know, I've always had that gymnast butt goin, still, I paused and had to decide how to take this. I kinda laughed and tried to think- maybe this is appropriate conversation between strangers in Turkey.
me: "oh, well, I've always had this big thing, but you're still right about the girl- smiling, finishing with balloons, heading to checkout counter as fast as I can... really, do people not think before they speak?!

This weekend flew by. We stopped by Nick and Mandy's Thursday night to see their new little one. Addison is beautiful. She has the cutest little nose and is so sweet! Amanda DiMaria took some pictures while we are there so I will try to get a hold of them and add some to the blog. Nick and Mandy are doing great and are naturals at the whole parenting thing.

I continue to get leg cramps pretty much every night. Mike and I are both used to me getting up and jumping up and down (well, not really jumping) and trying to walk it off.
This morning when Mike's alarm went off, I went to move around and experienced one of my trusty spasms in my left calf- but this one would not stop!! It was in the back and then it started in my shin, too.
I hopped, I tried to push it out but if I moved my foot one way, the front spasm got worse, the other and the back got worse.
After about 3-4 minutes of walking, smacking my foot on the wall and ground, massaging and stretching I looked over to notice Mike lying intently in bed, just watching the morning show.
Must be nice to have morning entertainment!
-well, he rubbed my leg for me after he got up so he's off the hook.

Sorry, I know I've gotten kindof lax about updating my blog. We were out of town for the weekend and I've had some back and forths to the doctor.
Here are my updates- good and bad.
Thursday, before we left for the trip, I visited the doctor for a urinary tract infection- yay! They are very common in pregnancy but up til this point I had eluded them.
Friday we flew to PA and had a wonderful visit with my family. We spent time with my grandparents and aunts and uncles.
Saturday night I started to experience some pain in my back and abdomen (not the usual growing, stretching pains). Nothing really alarming, but by Sunday I was extremely sore and uncomfortable. Yesterday morning my body decided to pile on a day of nausea and vomiting so I ended up back at the doctor just for a check. Despite the aches and puking, all is well with Peyton, but couple that with the usual lack of sleep and I might have bitten your head of yesterday.
Last night we had our first Lamaze/child birth class. It was interesting and I'm glad we went but the birthing video was a bit much for me. I've seen births on tape before and that part is fine, the part that got to me was delivering the placenta. Our class goes from 7:00-9:30 and the video was at the end last night. We headed home to get ready for bed and as I lay down to sleep I kept seeing the placenta- nice thoughts before bed :)
I do think it was good to be around a bunch of pregnant women yesterday though, considering my mood. It was nice to hear other women talk about aches and nausea and crying spells- makes you feel normal :)

I'm actually at my grandparents in Pennsylvania right now. We're celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
My Gram happens to be extremely technologically saavy so I wanted to sit down on her computer for a second to send out a congratulations
CONGRATULATIONS to new parents Nick and Mandy St. Leger.
They welcomed their little girl Addison Kay into the world this morning at 1:56 A.M.
We can't wait to meet her when we get back to town!

Thanks to Linds I am now hooked on "Tori and Dean, Home Sweet Hollywood". It's on on Tuesday nights on Oxygen. I didn't see any of their other seasons. I think they owned a bed and breakfast for awhile or something. I love this show though- mostly because Tori is pregnant right now and only a little ahead of where I am. She gets a little quirky and emotional and I love it. It makes me feel even more normal- plus I love seeing her and her husband together and I have to admit, I was a pretty big 90210 fan. If you haven't caught the show- especially all you preggers and moms with little ones, check it out.
Mike watched part of an episode or two with me and he even thinks its' kinda funny. I think he just likes the funny comments that Dean makes to Tori.
Just a few highlights: Last week Tori threw her son a party for his first birthday and it went from being a backyard bbq to a huge event with monkeys and blow up jumpy machines. I especially liked the food (surprise)- they had a milkshake station and mini pb&j sandwiches.
The week before, Dean was learning to scuba dive. Tori hadn't like the lady instructor he had initially, so he set it up so he would scuba dive with a gay scuba team.

So Mike and I were watching tv last night. We LOVE the Food Network and one of our shows right now is the Next Food Network Star.Well, last night they had a challenge where 2 of the competitors had to make Mac n cheese. The finished results looked SO good- I had to have some. Mind you, it was 9:30pm. I was gonna run the the store, but my loving husband offered to for me. Don't worry that I ate the whole thing- and even though the Mac n Cheese on tv was gourmet- I went for the Kraft Mac with the powder cheese. It suited me just fine, though :)

Today is a good day. It's kinda my Friday because we are going to the Cubs game tomorrow, but more importantly, it's a good day because my Glucose test came back and all is well. No Gestational Diabetes. One more test to mark of the list! Yay!
Now if the Cubs can just keep winning, I'll be set for the weekend.
-update- and I just got an email from Mike that the baby bedding is being delivered today!
I'm so excited. Next step is paint colors.

26 weeks down, 14 (give or take a few days) to go.
I should find out this afternoon about my Glucose test results.
I didn't have the chance to update yesterday, but Monday night Mike and I had our hospital tour. We will be delivering at Northwest Community in Arlington Heights. The tour was a big reality check for me- but in a good way. It's overwhelming to think that in the not too distant future, we will be there adding to our family. At the same time, it's comforting to me to be able to picture where I am going to be. I really like the hospital over all. Of course, they are building a brand-spankin new Maternity wing as we speak, but it won't be completed until late '09 or early '10, but that's okay, the existing maternity ward looked clean, comfy and safe enough for me.
There were alot of people on the tour- some I swear should have just stayed up in one of the rooms because they could very possibly have goin into labor at any second.
Another fun this is our bedding has shipped- it should be here in the next few days. I CAN'T WAIT!!

Palatine is having their hometown fest this weekend and I am so excited. There is no better place for a hungry pregnant girl to be. Tonight we'll probably watch the fireworks from the rooftop.
We have friends coming out tonight, tomorrow and Saturday- though I think we'll be doing a sit down dinner somewhere tonight with Linds and Greg (since it might be chilly), I plan to visit as many food vendors as possible over the next few days.
Okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, but we will be there quite a bit since we can walk there and the weather will be nice and I know some pizza, a funnel cake and some other goodies that have my name on them.
Hope everyone has a good 4th of July!

I almost forgot...
I told Jess Campbell already but I noticed on Sunday that I had a voicemail message. The missed call notice said it was from Jess.
Well, the voicemail wasn't. It was from Little Miss Elliott. What I gathered from the message was "squeal, squeal, coo, giggle, squeal". It made my night. Mike and I were cracking up.

I'm at the 25 week mark! Yay- though there are still 15 more to go, but hey, each passing week is one off the list.
Tomorrow we have our next doctor's visit and that includes the Glucose test- mmmm. Drink the gatorade-ish drink, wait an hour and have blood drawn to test for Gestational Diabetes.
Next week Mike and I are signing up for the classes we want to take.
We've decided to do a Child Preparation class- which is a one night class in the end of July that goes over new born care and things like that. We're also going to take the Breastfeeding class which is another one night class. I'd like to try to nurse, at least at first, and I've heard from my friend Kelly down the street from me that this class at the hospital is great. Lastly, we've decided to do the Preparation for Labor and Delivery class, which is a 4 week one.
I feel like there are so many things I don't know, especially about newborn care, so I am looking forward to these classes.

It's been a few days, I know. Not much to report, though. I was a bit under the weather Sunday and yesterday so I am just getting back to myself.
The weekend was nice and uneventful. Got several things done around the house, ordered the baby furniture (finally!) and a few other random events.
My odd sleeping habits allowed me to watch the sunrise on Saturday morning. I woke up at about 330 and after an hour and a half of trying to fall back asleep, I made my way up to the rooftop and watched the sun wake up. I love the rooftop! The best part was that after the sun was up, I was able to go back to sleep for a little bit- yay me!
Another rooftop story from the weekend- Last year we hosted a shower party for Sam and Joe. The group spent most of the evening on the rooftop and at one point Joe's mom lost a diamond and sapphire ring. We searched high and low for weeks.
On Sunday Mike was moving some furniture and cushions back up and found it- literally a year later!
I immediately called Sam. Joe's mom is so excited. What are the odds after a full year?!
