We are finally feeling better!
This actually happened about a week ago, but Nana and Papa got Peyton a gift.
When Gretchen and I were babies, my Grandma Dolly, Aunt Lil and Mom took us to get our ears pierced. We then little diamond earrings to wear.
Well, Nana wanted to keep the tradition going.
Check out this little girl's bling!

Out of Commission

I've been fighting a cold all week and now of course, little Miss Peyton has it. Poor thing. She's got a fever, cough and stuffy nose, and I of course, feel terrible because I gave it to her. I know this won't be the last time, but I hate it when she's sick. She just looks so miserable.
We'll be back soon.

I swear, I have been waiting to get kisses from this little girl since the day she was born. FINALLY!!!

Peyton's has become quiet a little ham. Her favorite game lately has been "Where's Peyton". She was doing it for a while and then forgot about it, but over the past few days, it's back... big time.
Every time she gets a hold of a blanket or burp cloth she wants to play.

Fourth of July

Peyton celebrated her first Fourth of July this past weekend. My, how things have changed. We had some friends over for the Palatine fireworks, which were actually on the 3rd. We all headed over to the fest with the kids and then came back and watched the fireworks from our rooftop.
It cracks me up to see how we all have kids now, it just seems to have come on so fast.

Peyton had a great time with her friends that night.
On the 4th, we walked down the street to watch the parade. I love that we live in an area that has that hometown feel. The parade went by just one block from our house. Peyton loved all of the big cars and firetrucks the best. After that we spent most of the day doing nothing since it was nice and rainy all day.

It did clear up late afternoon so we headed over to the fest for a bit and then Papa came by to visit for a little while.

I think Peyton enjoyed her first 4th.

9 Months

My Peyton,
Tomorrow you will be 9 months. Every day is bringing new changes. Yesterday I asked Daddy where our baby girl had gone. It seems like you are growing so fast, we can hardly keep up.

You now have 2 little teeth that you love to run your tongue on and mash your snacks with. I get to see them alot because you seem like you are always smiling.

You still aren't crawling, but we aren't sure if you will or not, since I didn't. You do love to hold your self up around your toys to play with things and you get so excited while you are doing it. Now you've started to scoot on your back like a little crab (which is what your Aunt Gretchen and I did).
You LOVE to squeal. You've been doing it for months, but this month you seem to have figured out how to make it louder or higher. I swear you will be an opera singer. You squeal at pictures of yourself and at other babies and children- or anytime you get excited.
Aside from the squeals, you love to say Baba, Da Da, hi, hey, uhhh, and Bayyy (which might turn into bye or Bailey). No Mama yet, but I think you are tormenting me. I'll say "say Mama, Ma ma ma ma ma" and you'll smile sweetly and look at me and say "Da da". You can be such a stinker!
You are enjoying different fruits and veggies, and you've had some yogurt and even a little bit of bread this month. I think you are getting impatient to eat all of the things you see everyone else eating.
We went to Florida again this month and it was so fun to see you with Sophia and Joey. You loved to watch them and you all were so cute in the pool. You were even more excited to be in the water than at Easter.
Your favorite thing this month is probably Bailey. You guys spend alot of time playing together on the ground. You share your toys with him and he licks your toes or play-nips at your fingers while you giggle. I think he is enjoying you as much as you are him.
Walks are right up there with your favorites, too. You are hysterical in your strollers. You always kick your little leg up like you are lounging and relaxing. You lay back and enjoy the ride and squeal or oooh when you see something new.
It just amazes me how much you can change day-to-day. Clothes that fit las week, don't anymore!
The other morning when you woke up really early, I took you into the extra bedroom to see if you would fall back asleep with me. It's been so long since we had napped together and I hadn't realized how much I missed having you snuggled up against me. It made me sad to realize how much bigger you were since the last time we had done that. Believe it or not, you are almost as half as tall as me already!!! Well, let's be honest, that's not saying much, but still...
Where was I...
I love watching you sleep. Your Daddy and I crack up about how you sleep just like me. You put your blankie over your head to comfort you- the same way I use a pillow or t-shirt.
I love watching you play and explore. You look so intently at something and every once in a while let out this big sigh like it's so much work to explore the world.
When you are really interested in figuring something out you make sweet little noises like "ehh" or "huuu" over and over. I can just imagine your little mind ticking away.
Peyton, you bring so much joy to me. I know I'm not the only one. Your Daddy just lights up when he sees you. Your grandparents and aunts and uncle just melt over you. And I feel so proud when we are out somewhere together and you look up at someone who comments on how cute you are and give them a huge smile.
I wish I could keep you right as you are right now, but I know that wouldn't be fair to you. I can sense how impatient you are to explore and be more independent. I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow and the day after that, but let's enjoy today, too.
I love you with every piece of me.
Thank you for being you.

A Playdate at Jacob's New House

Peyton and I went to visit Jacob and Jill at their new house yesterday. We had a great time, though I felt a little bad. My daughter LOVES to squeal- all the time lately, and I think it scared Jake a little bit. Peyton would watch Jacob crawling around and standing up to walk a little around his little table and she would get excited and scream. This would scare Jacob and he would start to cry. He just was so fun to watch that she would do it over and over again. It'll just take a little time for him to get used to her squeals- or maybe she'll stop doing it so much. Anyways, we had a great time and Peyton enjoyed her first teething biscuit. Auntie Jill always has a new treat for her to try Thanks for having us, we love your new house!
